Our Creative Director Abi Perry-Jones was invited again to lend her design expertise and join the jury for the annual Publican Awards this week. The shortlisted venues for the Best New Pub/Bar 2020 category were all really strong contenders for the award. The winners of all categories will be announced at the Publican Awards Event on the 4th March. Here’s our brief low down on the entries for the Best new Pub/ Bar award:

This contemporary yet cosy pub and music venue is steeped in history and offers five bars including a ballroom, Cocktail Bar and Club Room and 15 boutique styled bedrooms. Having been significantly renovated, the pub boasts opulent decor with bold colours and textures. Music inspired artwork and influences adorn the walls.

Drawing influence from the Leeds Northern Railway, the interior is relaxed with an industrial feel. The emphasis is on craft and cask beers, cocktails, food and live music. The venue also includes a gaming floor with shuffle boards, arcade games and pinball machines.

The latest venture from North Brewing Co famous for North bar known as “The first craft beer bar in Britain”. The venue is a tap room with a minimalist industrial feel also offering great coffee, wine and cocktails alongside street food from Little Bao Boy. Events are hosted on a regular basis.

A relaxed traditional English pub located on the edge of the historic Bristol Harbourside offering a large pub garden featuring an airstream vehicle used as an outside bar/ food kiosk. Taking inspiration from the history of the building as a “Dockside Inn where sailors, merchants and dock-workers once drank”. Customers are encouraged to sit, drink and watch the world go by.
