Interior design and refurbishment of a beautiful riverside inn with rooms
This characterful property dates back to the 18th century and is part of the Red Mist Leisure group. We created a bespoke design scheme with a timeless appeal, retaining oak-beamed ceilings, brick floors and original fireplaces, while introducing contemporary touches throughout.
Our design includes many bespoke features, including carpeting, lighting and a unique wallpaper we created with an illustrated motif to reflect the RML philosophy of using seasonal, locally-sourced produce.
Already proving popular with guests, we designed a large, buttoned-back oval booth, upholstered in a rich tan leather. Wall panelling was installed and painted in a matt olive green, providing a great backdrop to display vintage prints of river birds. An original beamed ceiling and new illuminated wine store create atmosphere and intimacy.
Bespoke design, timeless style

Texture & tone
Improved and greatly expanded outside seating makes the most of The Stag’s incredible riverside setting, and allows RML to maximise usable outside space to serve more guests safely. The focus on comfort and design details continued here, with new timber-framed spaces allowing customers to enjoy the views and sounds of the river while remaining warm and dry under canvas canopies.
Finally we completed another refurbishment of the seven bedrooms, creating a fresh boutique feel in keeping with their historic setting, and it was a pleasure to give these spaces a charming new look.
