We recently visited the Fashion and Textile Museum, London to view the works of the amazing architect and designer Josef Frank (1885-1967). Frank was born in Vienna and gained Swedish citizenship in 1939 quickly becoming a great asset to Scandinavian design. His collaborations with the iconic Svenskt Tenn remain particularly relevant to today’s trends in interiors.
Frank is best known for his vivid textiles and as part of Svenskt Tenn, helped define the design style now regarded as Swedish Modern. Designs incorporated vibrant tropical flowers, ferns and insects he used colour and pattern to add warmth and personality.
We have taken great inspiration from the work of Frank and Svenskt Tenn for our work with KuPP, the exciting “Nordic Inspired” casual dining restaurant brand and winners of the Casual Dining Menu Innovation Award.
KuPP are keen to evolve the design of their interiors and Frank’s values of comfort, homeliness and colour have certainly inspired our interior design soon to complete in West Quay, Southampton.
Check out the some Scandi style striking fabric patterns, uplifting colours in the Nordic Inspired bar and restaurant due to open very soon. The interior will undoubtedly be a great space to relax and enjoy some amazing food and drink in true Scandi style.
KuPP, West Quay, Southampton site is due to open at the beginning of July with the brand expanding throughout the year. Watch this space for news of the restaurant opening which is sure to be a great success! In the meantime click http://kupp.co for more info.
