Interior design and refurbishment of a village pub
We were delighted to revisit a project for New Dawn Pubs, The Royal Exchange, a village pub in Hampshire, which was in need of a refresh after our original design and architecture focused work there over seven years ago.
Our original involvement included planning applications to relocate the entrance and car park, the incorporation of an existing adjacent large barn into the dining space, and the addition of beautiful oak porches and a large roof light. This significant project saw an empty village pub become a popular destination for customers in the surrounding area and a sorrowful building at the heart of the village completely transformed.
The new design has created a cosy and welcoming focus around a fireplace with a casual mix of new soft seating. This has increased the dwell time of customers in the pub and allowed for extended opening hours. The use of new wall tiles to the existing bar front and chimney breast have contributed to the new look alongside all floor and wall finishes, lighting and furniture.
The barn area with direct access to an outside terrace was identified as a potential space for private dining or functions but also an obvious extension to the dining zone. We introduced a garden influenced design scheme mixing floral and geometric print fabrics, planting and specified new feature lighting to the double height vaulted roof area.
