Turtle Bay

Casual Dining – Interior Redesign & Rebrand

Jones AD recently delivered a full redesign and rebrand for Turtle Bay Chelmsford, creating a relaxed, contemporary space inspired by laid‑back Caribbean beach life. The new interior swaps bright primary colours for warm corals, soft turquoises and layered natural textures, all brought together with thoughtfully curated lighting to create an inviting all‑day atmosphere.

Design Approach

Working closely with the Turtle Bay team, Jones AD reconfigured the layout to support the operator’s strategic direction. A new linear bar finished with textured blue tiles and a terrazzo top anchors the space, now featuring a dedicated barista station as part of the refreshed all‑day offer. Bespoke floral upholstery appears across the bar stools, fixed seating and exterior terrace awnings, providing a cohesive identity inside and out.

Easy‑going Caribbean beach life

A timber pergola forms the restaurant’s central focal point, enhancing intimacy and echoing the beach‑bar inspiration. Chalky blues, blush pinks and soft greens bring calm to the dining areas, complemented by rattan and rope‑weave seating, lush planting and soft sunset‑tone artwork. The open kitchen, clad in coral‑toned patterned tiles, adds vibrancy and theatre to the guest experience.

Zoning & Guest Experience

The interior is zoned to create flexible spaces for different guest needs throughout the day. A relaxed lounge area features rattan sofas and statement hanging seats is an instant favourite for cocktails and coffees while a dining area beneath a slatted timber ceiling adds warmth and sparkle with mirrored detailing and twinkling lights.

“We’ve loved evolving the Turtle Bay experience while keeping the spirit of the brand unmistakably present. The sun‑bleached palette, natural materials and layered textures create a warm, convivial atmosphere that guests have really embraced. We’re excited to continue working with Ajith and the team on future projects.”
